Reshape the World with Thermofluids & Interfaces

- for Future Oriented  Medical Test, Advanced Cooling, and Energy Conversion -

We are a group working on thermofluids and interfaces!

We address interesting interfacial phenomena in nature and intriguing interfacial problems in industry.

We aim to revolutionize the framework of complex wetting from ideal cases to real world; We seek for bottom-up innovations through close interdisciplinery collaborations for the target of cutting-edge medical test, extreme cooling, and advanced energy conversion.

Join us!

The TFI group (Wang group) is actively seeking enthusiastic, creative and dedicated researchers to join us!

We are doing interdisciplinery explorations. We welcome students, researchers, and visitors from wide background of thermal science, fluid dynamics, material engineering, surface chemistry, and surface physics.

For most inquiries, Zhenying (Jane) can be reached at wang.zhenying.484@m.kyushu-u.ac.jp.

  • We provide expert support for highly-motivated PostDocs in application for Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) Fellowship Programs (both short term and long term).

  • Graduate students (both Master and PhD courses) are welcome to contact Zhenying to discuss interested research topics. We provide diverse funding resources.

  • For PhD applicants of Oct. 2025, please do contact me by email before April 10th ! Note: Only shortlisted applicants will be contacted.

  • Visiting researchers are welcome to contact Zhenying for an enjoyable staying both in research and life.

  • Highly motivated undergraduate students are welcome to participate in our research. Undergraduate students are encouraged to publish their research results.

The talk detailedly explains two representative work published later in JFM and APL with Editor's Pick in 2024. You can get some ideas on how we can derive fundamental theories of wetting from ideal cases to real world (with phase change and with multicomponents)!
